The Finite Geometry research group was founded informally by Tamás Szőnyi in the late 80's of the last century.
The topics covered by the members are

- Galois geometries
- arcs, caps, blockings sets, semiovals, nuclei
- coding theory
- stability questions
- polynomials over finite fields.
