The Commemorative Placket of the 30-th National Science
Circle Conference was given to Katalin Munkácsy, associate professor
of the Mathematics Teaching and Education Centre,
by the Presidium of the National Science Circle Council.

09/07/2011: The Hungarian Academy of Sciences launched a call for fundings
of research groups for the next 5 years. Of the 164 groups which applied,
42 received support.
Among the three research groups that are supported in mathematics, is the
Egerváry Research Group on
Combinatorial Optimization of our Institute.

08/25/2011: On the International Mathematics
Competition for University Students 2011, held in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria,
László Miklós Lovász reached the second best score and received Grand First
Prize. Of the other members of our team, Dániel Korándi, Dániel Nagy,
and István Tomon also received First Prize, while Csaba Nagy Second Prize.
Our team reached the third place after the Jagiellonian University,
Krakow and the Taras Shevcehnko National University, Kyiv. The team was
led by Péter Pál Pach. Selection and coaching of team members was done
by Tamás Keleti and Géza Kós.
